e.l.f. Cosmetics Urban Legend
May 15, 2008 — Emma McNeilI really wish that this post could be about real elf cosmetics (or would they just use glamour rather than piling on the slap?).
Anyway, I discovered the e.l.f. high quality (but bargain) brand very recently, and stocked up on lots of new pretty make-up and then bought my Mum some new pretty make-up and vowed never to buy overpriced cosmetics again.
What’s mysterious about this? Well, apparently e.l.f. is the subject of it’s very own urban legend! According to Snopes.com people have been receiving emails warning them that the low, low prices are NOT for ever more. The emails claim that a big department store has bought out the label and that the low prices are just stock that’s being sold off quickly.
But, yet again Snopes have got to the bottom of the story. And it’s not true. So we can carry on stocking up on outrageously cheap cosmetics.
e.l.f. isn’t the only cosmetics brand. Procter and Gamble, whose brands include Wella and Olay, have long been dogged by rumours that they are a front for Satanism!
Why would anyone think that? Get the full story here.
And then there’s the “there are fatal amounts of lead in lipstick” line.
And deodorant doesn’t give you breast cancer. But you can get conjunctivitis from sharing eye make-up so don’t do that…
